There’s a quiet kind of magic in the early hours — before the phone lights up, before the rush begins. That small, still space between dreaming and doing is where I make my cacao.

For me, it’s not just a drink. It’s a ritual — a heart-opening moment that reminds me who I am and how I want to move through the day.

How It All Began

A few years ago, while travelling through Guatemala, I was introduced to ceremonial cacao by the indigenous Kaqchikel women in San Marcos La Laguna, Lake Atitlán. Their connection to the cacao spirit — to the land, the trees, and each stage of the process — left a mark on me.

They prepared cacao with reverence: hand-peeled beans, stone-ground paste, songs, stories, and quiet gratitude before each cup. It was powerful, humbling, and deeply human. I realised then that cacao wasn’t about caffeine or productivity — it was about presence, heart, and connection.

That experience inspired what would become Mother Earth Cacao — our way of bringing that same integrity and intention home to Ireland, while giving back to the indigenous communities who carry this wisdom forward.

Making Your Morning Cacao

A morning cacao ritual doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s about creating a moment that’s just for you.

Here’s how I do it:

Set the tone. Light a candle, breathe, or simply sit in silence.

Warm your milk or water. Don’t boil it — keep it gentle.

Add your cacao. I use about 25–30g of our Mother Earth Ceremonial Cacao — rich, stone-ground, and full of life.

Whisk until smooth. Watch the texture change — slow, silky, alive.

Set an intention. Something simple like “I open my heart today” or “I move with kindness.”

Sip slowly. Feel it. Let the warmth spread.

It’s a small practice that changes everything. You begin your day with heart instead of hurry.

Why Ceremonial Cacao?

True ceremonial grade cacao is pure — it comes from whole beans, not processed powder. It’s naturally high in magnesium, iron, and theobromine, which provides a clean, sustained energy that uplifts without the crash.

Our cacao is sourced directly from the Kaqchikel women’s collective in San Marcos La Laguna. They grow, ferment, and hand-grind every batch with care — the same way their grandmothers did.
