Blue Lotus vs Alcohol: A Quieter Evening Ritual

In Ireland, having a drink is still one of the usual ways to mark the end of the day. Sometimes, though, it's the little ritual around it that people want: a few quiet minutes, a change of pace, and time away from the rush.

Blue Lotus isn't a replacement for alcohol. At Mother Earth, our dried Blue Lotus is a botanical for personal and ritual use, not a tea or something to drink. It can still have a place in a simple evening routine.

A little about Blue Lotus

Blue Lotus, Nymphaea caerulea, is a flower with a long association with ancient Egyptian art and culture. Ours comes through our sourcing relationship in Sri Lanka with Mithula and growers including Ruwan and Mala. There are real people behind the flowers and that's important to us.

A quieter evening doesn't have to involve a drink

You might arrange a few dried flowers in a small bowl beside your journal, put your phone away for a while, play some music or simply sit for a few minutes. It doesn't need to be a grand ceremony.

If you fancy making something warm to drink, choose a tea that's sold for that purpose, such as chamomile or hibiscus, and enjoy it separately. Our Wellness Teas collection is a good place to browse.

Flowers and tincture are different formats

Our dried Blue Lotus flowers and petals are supplied for botanical and ritual use. The Blue Lotus Botanical Tincture is a separate bottled preparation, also for botanical use, and is not sold as a food or food supplement. Always follow the guidance for the specific format you have.

There are no promises here about sleep, stress or alcohol. It's simply an invitation to give the evening a bit more breathing room.

If the flower interests you, start with 28g dried petals or 50g flowers and petals. There's also a separate 30ml botanical tincture and a €37 petals-and-tincture bundle, each with its own product guidance. You can read about Mithula, Ruwan and Mala in our sourcing story.
