Massage, Reflexology, Acupuncture and Ayurveda: Choosing a Small Retail Range
If you run a massage studio, reflexology room or acupuncture clinic, chances are you're already busy enough without managing a huge shop at reception. A few well-chosen items can work, but only if they suit your clients and you know what you're selling.
Pick products that can be explained in a sentence
A ceramic mug, journal, clearly labelled herbal tea or a small rose gift can be straightforward retail items. You shouldn't need to give someone a lecture about meridians, energy or the nervous system to explain why a mug is a nice gift.
Different practices have different boundaries. Reflexology isn't acupuncture. TCM is a distinct tradition with its own training and professional responsibilities. Massage and bodywork also aren't identical to providing medical treatment.
A word about Ayurveda and TCM
We have an Amma India & Ayurveda range, including cacao blends, and a tongue scraper. You can read our simple tongue-scraping guide for the everyday routine side.
That does not make every traditional herb appropriate for sale as a drink, food supplement or treatment. Product authorisation, labelling, professional requirements and the precise use all matter. Mother Earth doesn't supply medical acupuncture devices, prescriptions or professional TCM qualifications.
How much should you order?
I'd start with a short shelf, not a full wall. Check what your customers already ask about, what will be easy to display and how much money you can comfortably tie up. Work out the actual margin after tax and fees. Check best-before dates for food products and make sure the packaging information is easy to find.
The Massage, Therapy & Treatment Spaces page is written for this kind of business. If you want to compare with other holistic practices, see the practitioner modalities guide.
Would Christmas change the range?
Maybe a little. A small gift or voucher selection could work nicely towards December, especially if people are looking for a present for a colleague or family member. Don't put November-dated mushroom gummies in a gift box for Christmas. We explain the batch information in our gummy guide.
If you do want a small retail range, message through Wholesale & Trade with a rough budget and the kind of space you run. We can discuss appropriate products without pretending the same starter kit suits every practitioner.
