Breathwork, Yoga and Sound Baths: What Belongs on a Studio Retail Shelf?

I've been looking at how different wellness spaces operate. A yoga studio, a breathwork group and a sound bath might share some customers, but they're not the same thing. And having a shelf of products doesn't mean you're obliged to recommend something to every person who comes in.

Start with the actual space

How do people arrive and leave? Is there somewhere comfortable for a mug of tea? Does the teacher have a reception area or is the room shared with other practitioners? Before stocking anything, check that it makes sense for the way the business runs.

A few grippy socks can suit a Pilates or movement studio. A journal, an appropriately labelled herbal tea or a good mug could suit many spaces. But that's not a formula. You know the people walking through your door better than a generic product catalogue ever will.

Don't mix up the practice and the product

Breathwork can involve physical and psychological responses, so screening and appropriate professional boundaries are a matter for the facilitator. We aren't recommending cacao, mushroom supplements or other products as ways to intensify a breathwork session. A warm drink offered separately after a class is a different conversation from a product being used to drive an experience.

The same goes for sound sessions, energy work or meditation. A journal can be a thoughtful optional extra; it isn't a treatment.

Think about the price tag and the space

Start with three to six products you can display properly. Check retail margin, tax treatment, dates where applicable, payment process and whether staff feel comfortable explaining each item. If you're working with other practitioners, agree whose stock it is and how sales are handled.

Our studio retail guide goes further into the business side. For supply, have a look at Yoga, Pilates & Movement Studios and Practitioners & Wellness Studios.

What about cacao circles?

For someone planning to run cacao circles, we've a specific Cacao Facilitator Training route. That teaches cacao preparation and facilitating groups; it isn't a breathwork, sound-therapy or yoga teaching qualification. Read the group cacao quantities guide and pricing a first circle for the practical bits.

Our Modalities & Practitioner Network page gives the fuller picture. If you're exploring a small range, message with the type of space you run and what your customers actually ask for. I'll help you narrow it down.
