Starting a Small Wellness Range in an Irish Health Shop
When an independent health shop gets in touch, I don't think the best answer is a catalogue with hundreds of products and an expectation that they'll know what to choose. Most shop owners already have enough to manage.
I'd start with a short conversation about the customers, shelf space and budget. Our Health Shops & Independent Retailers page is the route for anyone looking at stocking Mother Earth.
What do customers actually ask for?
Some shops already sell lots of herbal teas. Others have customers asking about ceremonial cacao, matcha or functional mushrooms. A sensible starter range should fit what people are already interested in, not rely on convincing everybody to try something completely new.
For cacao, choose an origin you can explain and give staff the right preparation guidance. For mushrooms, start with the ingredients, not dramatic health claims. Our mushroom label guide is useful reading for staff who want to explain serving sizes and formats clearly.
Botanicals and teas need separate shelves and explanations
Our Wellness Teas are sold as tea products. Blue Lotus and White Lotus are sold for botanical and ritual use, not as food or supplements. That difference matters on a retail shelf. See our botanical versus tea guide for the straightforward explanation.
Shilajit is not presently offered through our trade programme. We have current retail Shilajit listings, while suitable shops may register interest in a possible future Mother Earth trade range. The current Shilajit range is not offered wholesale, so it isn't listed as trade stock.
Know your numbers and your team
Check trade pricing, retail pricing, the appropriate VAT treatment, date rotation, shipping and how much cash you can afford to tie up. Staff should have simple facts about the products, and a contact for questions they can't answer.
In my experience, six well-selected products that turn over are a better start than thirty you struggle to explain. There's always room to expand when you know what works.
Use the Wholesale & Trade page for the ordering process, or contact us about a health-shop opening order. Tell me what your shop is like and we'll work from there.
For Christmas ordering, there's a separate health-shop and studio gift guide. We've also explained the dates on the current gummy stock, so staff and customers can see the distinction between a clearance product and a December present.
