Gotu Kola: How We Source It Through Mithula in Sri Lanka

Gotu Kola is one of the traditional botanicals in the Mother Earth range, and the part I find most useful to explain is not a dramatic list of effects. It is where ours comes from and what the product actually is.

Our Sri Lankan relationship

Our Gotu Kola comes to us through Mithula in Sri Lanka, the same relationship behind a number of our teas and botanicals.

That matters because I would rather know who is at the other end of the supply relationship than buy every plant through an anonymous catalogue.

What is Gotu Kola?

Gotu Kola is a botanical with a long history of traditional use in parts of Asia, including Ayurvedic traditions.

History is interesting, but it is not the same as a modern medical claim. We keep those two things separate.

See Mother Earth Gotu Kola 50g.

How do you use it?

Follow the directions on the current product pack and product page. Traditional botanicals are not a reason to guess bigger servings or assume that more is better.

If you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under medical supervision, it is sensible to get professional advice before adding unfamiliar botanicals to your routine.

Why we tell the source story

Mother Earth sells a lot of products that could easily be reduced to a generic ingredient name. I do not want to do that.

Sometimes the human connection is the most interesting part of the product. Gotu Kola can stay a practical botanical while we also keep the Sri Lankan relationship behind it visible.
