Gotu Kola | Traditional Ayurvedic Herb 50g

Our Gotu Kola comes from Sri Lanka through my friend Mithula, who has been helping me source traditional plants and herbs from there.

At Mother Earth I’ve always tried to get as close to the source as I can.

I like knowing where our plants come from, the people behind them and some of the tradition and story before they reach our community here in Ireland.

About Gotu Kola
Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) has a long history of use in Ayurveda and traditional herbal practices across Asia.

It has traditionally been valued as a herb connected with the mind and is often used as part of mindful and meditative routines.

The taste is naturally earthy, green and slightly bitter. It can be enjoyed on its own as a herbal infusion or blended with other herbs.
How to use

Add approximately 1 teaspoon to a cup or teapot.
Pour over freshly boiled water and allow to steep for 5–10 minutes.

Strain and enjoy.
If Gotu Kola is new to you, start gently.

The story behind it
Gotu Kola is one of a number of traditional Ayurvedic herbs we’re beginning to introduce to the Mother Earth community, alongside Neem and a few other plants from Sri Lanka.

I’ll also be travelling to Sri Lanka in November to spend some time there, learn more first hand and hopefully meet more of the people behind the plants we share.

For me, Mother Earth was never meant to be just another shop putting products on a shelf. Knowing where something comes from and the people behind it matters.
