Guatemalan Ceremonial Cacao: Entre Nubes, Alta Verapaz
Guatemalan Cacao: Entre Nubes
100% cacao | Alta Verapaz, Guatemala | 227g & 454g
‘Entre Nubes’ means ‘between clouds’, which suits this origin. The cacao is grown in the green mountain landscapes of Alta Verapaz, where small family farms and Indigenous communities have worked with cacao for generations.
This cacao comes through the FEDECOVERA cooperative network, which works with Q’eqchi’ and Poqomchi’ farming families and cooperatives across the region.
The people behind the block matter to us just as much as the flavour. The cacao journey also connects with the Mayan women involved in preparing cacao in Guatemala, so when you buy this origin you are not simply buying an anonymous block from a wholesaler. There are farming families, women and communities behind it.
Flavour
Bright fruit and citrus, raw nut and cocoa notes, gentle acidity and an earthy finish.
How to use
Chop or shave the block, then gently melt into hot water or milk and whisk until smooth. It also works in smoothies, porridge and baking.
Why we stock it
Mother Earth started with cacao, and I want the sourcing story to stay visible as we grow. Entre Nubes is a good example of why: one product, but a chain of real people from mountain farming communities in Guatemala to our small business in Ireland.
Ingredients: 100% cacao.
